2019 Auckland Surfing Champs

Nov. 17th - Piha Beach.

Gabi Paul has won back to back Auckland Women's Titles. Gabi's win was sweetened by the $500 cheque she received from Franklin Smith Recruitment and that she beat close friend and the current NZ Women's Champ, Aimee Brown. Liv Brown-Haysom finished 'runner up' and also took out the U18 Girls.

2019 NZ Primary School Champs

NZ Year 8/7 Champion Leia Millar being congratulated at Midway Beach (Gisborne) by the other finalists. Other results were: Portia Millar 5th, Kyra Wallis 6th (Year 6 and Under Girls). Zak Becroft 7th and Sev Tolhurst 9th (Year 6 and Under Boys).

2019 South Island Champs

Zen Wallis is the 2019 South Island Champs winner taking out the title back to back for two years in a row. Liv Brown-Haysom won the Under 16 Girls Title. Liv complimented her win with a 4th in the Under 18 Girls while Zen also finished 'runner up' in the Longboard. Well done.

2019 NZ National Surfing Champs

The Nationals were held in Taranaki at a number of locations including Stent Rd, Graveyards and Arawhata Rd. Lion Rock Boardriders Club finished 4th top club in New Zealand from 18 clubs with three club members winning National Titles while others surfed with distinction.

Billabong Grom Series






The Billabong Grom Series has been running for almost 20 years. There are 6 Series Winners each year after the 3 contests have been held at Mt. Maunganui, Whangamata and Piha. In 2019 two club members were series winners.

Gabi Paul won the U18 Girls and Bill Byers the U14 Boys. Liv Brown-Haysom also finished top 4 in the U16 Girls.

2019 Surfing New Zealand Grom Series

After 9 events of the Junior Series (Under 18,16 and 14's), Lion Rock Boardriders Club is in 4th position from 18 clubs from around New Zealand. The events have been held throughout NZ from Dunedin to Kaikoura, to Taranaki, and includes the events from the Billabong Series.
